APOLOGY TO ALL TEAMS

Due to other commitments and time constraint, a date for the AGM has yet to be arranged. It is therefore thought best the season gets under-way with immediate effect, and a meeting will held at the earliest opportunity.

The fixtures will be the same as last season, with dates changed accordingly.

Unfortunately, I have been informed Bamber Bridge Con have withdrawn from our league, their fixtures will be byes.

If any other team is struggling for players and/or is thinking of withdrawing, could you please let me know asap.

I understand this is not ideal, but I hope you will accept my sincere apology.

On a brighter note, I have received an offer of help to try to avoid this happening in the future.

The projected calendar for season 2018/19 (subject to a meeting and amicable discussion) as follows:

Fixtures to commence on Thursday, 13th September 2018 and run for 13 consecutive weeks inclusive of Thursday, 6th December.

Doubles competition to be held on Thursdays, 13th and 20th December.

Christmas week: No fixtures on Thursday, 27th December.

Fixtures to recommence on Thursday, 3rd January 2019 and played to a conclusion ending on Thursday, 28th March (Maundy Thursday).

Cup Preliminary round: Thursday, 4th April.

Cup Quarter Final: Thursday, 11th April.

Free Date: Thursday, 18th April (possibility to hold 'Bill Bullen' semi-final and final and 'Doubles competition' final if problems on Finals Night).

Finals Night & Presentation of prizes: Thursday, 25th April.

In season 2017/18, Walton Le Dale Welsh Don League had one division consisting 14 teams.

Each team played each other team twice, making twenty-six fixtures in total for each team.

Each fixture consisted of five games, with the winning team of each game receiving one point. The team winning the most games in the fixture also received an additional two bonus win points.

Included in each fixture was a Bill Bullen Trophy game, which was also played on a league table basis. This game was to have been the final game played on the night (6th game).

Any two players from each team could represent their team in the Bill Bullen, it did not have to be the same two players each fixture.

On Finals Night, the top four teams in the Bill Bullen table contested the semi final stage, with the team in position one playing the team in position four, and, the team in position two playing the team in position three.
